Forever Is Now 06 Welcomes the Celebrated Chinese Artist for Her First Major Work in Egypt

Art D’Égypte today announced that Jiang Qiong Er, one of the most significant Chinese artists working today, with work held in the permanent collections of UNESCO, the British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Musée Guimet, will join the sixth edition of Forever Is Now, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, UNESCO, and Experience Egypt, staged at the Pyramids of Giza from November 4th to November 28th, 2026. Her participation coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and China, bringing one of the art world’s most sought-after names to one of the world’s oldest stages.

Based between France and China, Jiang Qiong Er has spent over two decades building a practice that moves fluidly between painting, sculpture, installation and public art, guided by her concept of “Universal Art”, a belief that visual language, rightly made, can transcend geography and time. Her sculpture XII Calls was permanently inducted into the UNESCO Headquarters collection in Paris in 2025, following solo presentations at the Musée Guimet and Waddington Custot Gallery, London. In 2009, she founded the luxury house Shang Xia with Hermès, and in 2016 was named Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Republic.

For Forever Is Now 06, Jiang Qiong Er is preparing an installation conceived specifically for the Giza plateau, one she describes not as an object to be viewed, but as a passage to be walked through. Rooted in the shared histories of Egypt and China, the work will be unveiled in full at the exhibition’s opening in November.
